International Literacy Day 2025

A literate child today, Becomes an asset for the nation tomorrow

On the occasion of International Literacy Day, Sarvamangal Education Trust extended the meaning of literacy beyond books by conducting a Digital Literacy Awareness session in Mumbai. With the internet becoming an inseparable part of daily life, it is equally important to educate youngsters about access and safe and responsible use of the digital world. The session highlighted how internet scams, fake links, and online fraud are becoming increasingly common, and why awareness is the first step to prevention.

During the session, young participants were guided on practical tips to safeguard themselves online—from identifying phishing emails to setting strong passwords and safe online banking practices to recognizing digital misinformation. More importantly, the session emphasized the role of youth as digital change-makers, who can take these learnings back to their families, neighbors, and communities, ensuring that safety doesn’t remain limited to the few but spreads to everyone.

This initiative was not just about protecting personal information, but about creating a culture of digital responsibility. By making youngsters ambassadors of internet safety, Sarvamangal Education Trust empowers them to build a digitally literate society—where technology becomes a tool for growth and opportunity, not vulnerability.

The Significance

On International Literacy Day, Sarvamangal Education Trust took literacy further by hosting a Digital Literacy Awareness session in Mumbai, empowering youngsters to become guardians of the digital age. The session focused on teaching simple yet powerful ways to stay safe online—spotting scams, avoiding suspicious links, setting strong passwords, and being mindful of digital fraud. However, the impact went beyond self-protection; these young participants were encouraged to become torchbearers of awareness, returning their knowledge to their parents, neighbors, and local communities. By equipping the youth with digital safety skills, the Trust ensures that literacy today is not just about reading and writing, but also about navigating the online world wisely and fearlessly.
